Above clip courtesy Razzmattaz Inc. Robert H. Laessig, internationally known floral artist, was born in 1913, in West New York, New Jersey. He considers art to be his life. Mr. Laessig studied textile design in Germany prior to World War II and served in the U.S. Air Force, painting extraordinary pictures of the war as seen through the eyes of an artist. After the war, Mr. Laessig became Art Director of American Greetings Company, where he created many floral designs for greeting cards over the next 20 years. In the 1960's, for five years, Mr. Laessig designed the White House Christmas cards. There are numerous Laessig paintings at the U.S. Pentagon in Washington, D.C.. From 2003-2006 Mr. Laessig was represented in "Arts in the Embassy" in Oslo, Norway. Robert H. Laessig continues to create paintings inspired by his love of nature. He works with a rich palate of colors on a wax-treated surface that is modified from batik, a technique he learned in his early years as a textile designer. |
